Notice about the three-week disruption in our posting: (24 Sep 10) "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Try and fool us thrice, and a big, big shame on you.
Those of you who visit this site regularly will have noticed that in the past two months, our posting has been disrupted twice for an unusually long period of a week each. Then we came back as usual each time, explaining that it had been due to "a disruption of our workflow" (which prevented us from posting) by parties who should deservedly be the object of "blame and censure". Three weeks ago, the same sort of disruption happened again. In hindsight, it became clear to us that these were hacker attacks on our PC, disguised as hardware problems, thus disabling it (but not our Web site hosted elsewhere). But for what purpose? And this is where things get ominous. Somehow, it was beginning to look as if the digital version of "landgrabbing" was going to be attempted at some point on our site. We don't wish to bore you with the technical details (which probably only other webmasters may be able to follow). Anyway, since early last week when we got a new PC, unlike previously, we decided this time not to continue posting for a while. Instead, we chose to try first a pre-emptive move (among several options) at the admin backend of our site. Since that involved the Internet's central registry, we had to wait until notification ot its approval - which only came yesterday. Still, it came as a great relief since we could put aside other, more drastic, options (at least for this instance). The good news for our valued visitors is that these hackers are after your "eyeballs" - by hook or by crook. But the not-so-good news for us at the admin backend is that we cannot relax our guard against these hackers (who are on the ground where we are based). So that's the story, in brief, of what has been happening behind the scenes the past weeks. Our Web site saga continues . . . Leonardo L. Sta.
